Seattle Sounders Bolster Attack with New Signing
The Seattle Sounders have made a significant addition to their squad by signing former Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on a short-term deal. Kent, 27, began his career at Liverpool, progressing through their youth system and gaining experience through loan spells at Coventry City, Barnsley, Freiburg, and Bristol City. In 2019, he made a permanent move to Rangers, where he became a key player until his departure in May 2023.

With the Sounders, Kent aims to reignite his career under coach Brian Schmetzer for the remainder of the 2025 season, with an option for extension. This could lead to be a very important addition for the squad taking place just weeks after winger Paul Arriola’s ACL injury. I hope Kent can add some inspiring play up top and enhance an underperforming offense, and I cannot wait to hear Seattle fans’ rendition of the Roy Kent chant from Ted Lasso!
Seattle Seahawks Strengthen Roster with Multiple Signings
The Seattle Seahawks have been active in the free agency market, strategically enhancing their roster with several key signings. Steven Sims and River Cracraft (former Washington State standout) have been signed as wide receivers. Both are experienced in the league and can add versatility to offense and special teams. Another offensive signing was made for tight end Eric Saubert, adding depth to that position under Noah Fant. It’s exciting that Cracraft is returning to the sports scene in Washington, but I’m not particularly excited by any of these signings, just happy all bases are covered in offensive depth.
Defensively, it gets a little more interesting. Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles was added to solidify our strong secondary. With two years at both Green Bay and New Orleans, he is experienced against good route-runners and is entering a fantastic cornerback room with Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen. D’Anthony Bell was signed at safety following three good years in Cleveland. He will immediately be a contender to share a lot of time on the field just below Coby Bryant and Julian Love on the depth chart. These signings should improve upon Seattle’s defense last season, which was solid but not what Seahawks fans are used to seeing.

At the end of the day, Seahawks fans are still left without the thing they’ve been asking for years: an offensive line. General Manager John Schneider knows this but is cautious of rushing into mistakes when addressing this issue. He is looking to add talent in the O-line in and after the draft. I appreciate his hesitancy as the franchise greatly increased their cap space this offseason and is looking to build a younger team, but this has been an issue for so long. There are currently young players rostered on the offensive line that the coaching staff seems excited about, and I’m hopeful that they add to this through the draft.
